The Restoration Movement began in America in the early 1800s when several Christian leaders became concerned that churches had become too divided by different names, rules, and traditions. They believed Christians had drifted away from the simple faith and practices found in the New Testament. Instead of starting a new denomination, their goal was to "restore" the church to what it looked like in the time of the apostles, focusing on the Bible as the only guide for faith and practice. They hoped that if all Christians went back to these basics, they could be united. Their vision was guided by famous slogans such as, "Where the Scriptures speak, we speak; where the Scriptures are silent, we are silent," and "Christians only, but not the only Christians." 

Over time, this movement grew and spread across the country, leading to many congregations that simply called themselves "Christian Churches" or "Churches of Christ," without any denominational labels. While each congregation is independently governed, churches in this tradition are characterized by a deep commitment to the supreme authority of the Bible, the practice of believer's baptism by immersion, and the weekly celebration of Communion. Restoration Movement churches like Hope Central continue to provide a welcoming space where believers from various backgrounds can worship together in unity. 

Hope Central Christian Church is a community born from the coming together of Kimball Christian Church and the Dassel Church of Christ. While we cherish our history, we believe a church is defined by its people—not its buildings or programs.
