That’s a Wrap! Year 14 of Awana has come to a close.
On Wednesday, April 23 we wrapped up Awana with our annual Awards Night and it was a packed house. A key feature of AWANA is scripture memorization. This year we had 117 clubbers and together they memorized over 1800 verses, which is AWESOME! We want children to commit scripture to memory so it is, as we read in Psalm 119:11, hidden in their hearts. The intent is for clubbers to Learn and Live by God’s word, not just be able to recite it. The physical awards these clubbers received for completing their books will serve as a reminder to them of who Jesus is and how to be more like Him.
It was another great year. Our clubbers had several opportunities to learn how to serve Jesus by serving others through various missions. Our clubbers brought in 600 lbs of food & raised over $1000 for the foodshelf, earned & donated $600 to Operation Christmas Child and helped pack 149 shoes boxes, and to finish off the year our T&T clubbers earned $550 dollars to donate to a local family who lost their house this winter. These kids went above and beyond; they truly answered the call on being the hands and feet of Jesus for our community and beyond.
Serving in Awana is a great way to answer the call to share the “good news” and help kids come to know Christ. If you are interested in learning more about Awana or how you could serve next year, please reach out to Leslie Arnold 320-492-7227. I would love to have you on our team!
